Gowing up I knew I wanted to work with animals. I often use to talk about becoming a large animal vet but then my mother became the head of marketing for Aviagen, a prime poultry breeder company, and started telling my all of the interesting things I never new about the poutry buisness. I soon started going to some of the seminars they had for some of their international guests. Most were topics related to the efficiency of getting a pellet from the mill to the birds without it deteriorating. That is what got me interested in the nutrition aspect. After I spent some time listening to these I became enthralled with the process and decided that I wanted to be apart of the process. After my senior year in highschool I started working at Hillsboro Gin & Feedmill so I would learn how the feed was made and the ingredients that were going into the feed. I also wanted to become qualified and experienced enough to work at Auburn's Feedmill. After the summer had ended and I was about to start my first year to college, I started working at Auburn's Poultry feedmill and have been there for almost a full two semesters. I have learned a great deal about the process, I have learned to take moisture samples and how precise the measurements for the hand-adds have to be. I still have much to learn and I look forward to it.
